Nottingham’s owner Evangelos Marinakis folds together on the Coach Nuno Espirito Santo. Commentators on the island speak of a scandal, Marinakis had previously noticed by unpleasant behavior.
After the disappointing 2: 2 of the Champions League candidate against the long-established relegation Leicester City Marinakis was stormed on the lawn on Sunday evening and had Forest-Coach Nuno Espirito Santo vigorously confronted.
The Greek played down the scene on social media afterwards: the violent dispute was only about the violation of Forest striker Taiwo Awoniyi. The former Bundesliga professional had crashed into the post in the final phase and had to be treated. Awoniyi then seemed struck. The fact that coach Santo left him on the pitch and did not bring another offensive player brought the team boss onto the palm: “We all – coaching staff, players, fans and myself – were frustrated with the violation of Taiwo and the misjudgment of the medical staff, whether Taiwo can continue the game”wrote Marinakis on Instagram. “This is natural, this is a demonstration of passion that we feel for our club.”
The attacked coach Santo also stated that the discussion was only about Awoniyi’s injury, and he did not resent the emotional reaction of Marinakis. “It is his passion and his desire to be a big club. 30,000 people felt the same way today. Certainly many of them would go to the field and shake through us”explained the 51 -year -old Portuguese.
TV commentator Gary Neville: Marinakis’ behavior “completely ridiculous”
Due to the draw, Nottingham got the surprise team for a long time Premier Leaguein the narrow race for one of the five Champions League places. For most commentators on the island, however, this could not justify the behavior of the club owner. The BBC spoke of a “very unpleasant scene for the spectators”. Gary Neville, ex-international and TV commentator, called Marinakis’ behavior towards the coach “a scandal” that must have an aftermath: “If I were now, I would ask for a serious conversation. To be exposed to the square, that’s completely ridiculous.”
According to Neville, no coach deserves this dealings, Santo should “negotiate premature resignation”.
Forest majority owner Marinakis – not the first scandal
Marinakis hadn’t noticed uncomfortably for the first time. In the current season he had already been banished from the stadium for five games. After a defeat against Fulham in the player tunnel, he had demonstratively spit on the floor when the referee team ran passed.
In Greece there is also an indictment against the shipping company entrepreneur, it is about his possible entanglement in a violent argument between fans of Olympiakos Piraeus and Panathinaikos Athens. Marinakis is also a majority owner of Olympic neps, and it is also investigated against other board members of the top Greek club.
