The 1. FC Kaiserslautern has kept the dream of promotion alive on Sunday afternoon. Greuther Fürth received a late neck stroke in Hanover.
A 2-1 victory over Darmstadt 98 makes the 1. FC Kaiserslautern continue to dream of the Bundesliga. The Palatinate must win their guest performance at the 1st FC Köln on the last match day and hope for slips from the competition from Elversberg and Paderborn in order to actually jump to the relegation rank. In the meantime, Greuther Fürth led in Hanover in the relegation battle, but collected the 1-1 equalization shortly before the end-and was lucky not to lose the game. Regensburg and Karlsruhe separated with a 2-2 draw.
Marlon Ritter (15th) by penalty and Ragnar Ache (45.+7) met in front of 49,088 spectators for the FCK. Luca Marseiler (3rd) had given Darmstadt in the lead.
The team of Torsten Lieberknecht, who had trained Darmstadt at the beginning of the season, started catastrophic. Goalkeeper Julian Krahl “gave” the guests’ early tour. First the keeper played a sloppy pass, then he invited Marseiler to the lead with a weak defense. The FCK immediately pushed for the equalization, but was initially unable to use the chances. After a quarter of an hour, Ritter hit the point – goal scorer Marseiler had fouled Jean Zimmer.
As a result, both rows of defense wobbled tremendously, the Palatinate also acted extremely offensive, Krahl remained uncertain – there were other goals in the air. A Darmstadt hit by Isac Lidberg was not recognized due to offside (32nd). The 18th goal of the season Aches, however, counted far in injury time, although the guests protested violently. The Darmstädter were angry because Fraser Hornby had been blocked by referee Robin Braun on the way to the ball.
At the beginning of the second half, Darmstadt was close to equalization, captain Clemens Riedel failed to Krahl (49.). The Palatinate became more and more passive with increasing playing time and only wanted to bring the result over time. A guest goal was possible several times.
Greuther Fürth missed the possibly decisive step towards relegation. The team of interim coach Thomas Kleine gave up the tangible victory in the 1-1 at Hannover 96. With a point ahead of Eintracht Braunschweig on relegation place 16, the situation remains dangerous.
Noel Futkeu (33.) hit the head of the cloverlatt, which has been without victory for nine games in a row. In the first leg, the center forward had scored the golden goal against 96, but this time Phil Neumann (87th) struck back.
Before the game, the club tour had to put a new impulse again and released the previous head coach Jan Siewert. The two former cloverleaf professionals Kleine and Milorad Peković took over for the remaining games on the Maschsee and against promoted Hamburger SV.
In Hanover, the hosts had a lot of possession of the ball, but rarely resourceful ideas. Fürth relied on a counterattack and struck after a corner ball. In the second round, the away team withdrew even further and ran the risk of collecting the compensation as with the chance of Hyun-Ju Lee (70th). He then succeeded Neumann after a corner. A supposed hit by Havard Nielsen (90.+3) did not count due to an offside position.
