The Mexican first division club Club León should not finally take part in the club World Cup this summer.
The association failed in front of the International Sports Court of CAS with its objection to a decision by the FIFA World Federation Association.
The committee had checked the documents and came to the decision that the FIFA decision was legal, the CAS said. The World Association excluded Club León from the tournament almost seven weeks ago. The association and CF Pachuca from Mexico violate competitive regulations from a FIFA perspective because both teams are under the same ownership.
León: “No sporting principle”
Anyone who takes over León’s place in the first-time club World Cup from June 15th to July 13th should decide in a planned decision-making game between Los Angeles FC and the Mexican team América.
The club from the city of León had already been drawn to Group D for the tournament and was to play its opening game against Chelsea in Atlanta on June 16. The verdict is “Very hard”the association wrote in a statement on the platform X. In this case it has “No sporting principle from the start” given.
At the event in the USA, the Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund will start.
