Again, there is a time when the sausages in the grill.

The number one delicacy in Finland’s largest food season is and remains. Year after year, sausage is the best -selling barbecue product of the summer.
Summer is the biggest food season of the year, so it is also reflected in the sale of meat houses.
During the barbecue season, grilled food is sold for about EUR 170 million, according to Atria’s press conference.
Christmas time is the second largest dining season of the year, but in this case, the food is sold by more than half the corresponding method for EUR 78 million.
Atria’s Research Manager Jukka Saarenpää Don’t wonder about the unshakable popularity of the barbecue sausage. Easy -cooked sausage considers its surface as the most grilled food in Finland. The ease is a big trend anyway, so why not in grilling.
The same says the leader of HK Foods’ meat business Mikko Järvinen. A lot of meat is consumed in the summer, but by far the biggest growth is on barbecue sausages. More than half of the full -year barbecue sausage sales take place during four summer months. More than half of the full year of pork steaks are also sold during the summer.
Chicken fillets and steaks are in demand throughout the year, but summer is also increasing their demand, as well as beef steaks and bacon. Järvinen laughs that the minced people eat minced meat in the summer, and its demand remains steady all year round.
According to Atria’s barbecue survey, about 1.5 kilos of barbecue sausage are eaten per adult Finn. No wonder the sausage grill gets hot many times in the summer.
Järvinen has noticed that barbecue sausage is a sacred thing for Finns. Nothing should change, the sausage is grilled in the same way year after year and it is always eaten with mustard.

According to a Hkfoods survey, 74 % combine sausage and mustard. 68 % make sausage cuts before grilling.
For this, Järvinen has his words to say. He reminds us that the sausage shell is so that the sausage remains juicy.
Instead, many eager barbecues are cut through the sausage throughout and finally grilling it so that the sausage shell will surely pop. The Finnish way is to make sausages on a really hot grill or on a campfire directly in flames. Then you cannot avoid pops and explosions.
At that point, you can forget the juiciness. Of course, Järvinen admits to making a few incisions in the sausage as he likes a little crunch on the sausage surface.
Järvinen also knows that many may get nervous if their way of grilling the sausage is in any way.
– I have been surprised by how many Finns make the sausage cuts. Of course, these are the differences in taste. But there is not always a need for sausage on the grill, after all, it has been developed with the idea that the shell keeps the sausage juicy. Sometimes you should try a different kind of grilling, Järvinen encourages.
According to Järvinen, grilling the sausage without popping requires skill. First the color of the sausage is taken on the hot grill and finally it matures in mild heat.
Another radical proposal for Järvinen is to eat sausage without mustard. The mustard just doesn’t fit the taste of all flavors.
It is certain that Finns are a barbecue. 74 % of the respondents to the Atria study survey themselves grill themselves.
A typical barbecue is a man living in a detached house with 2-3 people in the household. According to Saarenpää, Research Manager at Atria, grilling is the only one of the big food phenomena where men have a greater responsibility for cooking than women.

The big difference to everyday food from Atria’s research shows that grilling is something to do together. Where everyday food is made by one person, grilling is done together or at least present at the time of cooking.
Indeed, the important mental elements of grilling are the search and community of relaxation. Grilling is not to be super -fast, but is determined by a kind of respite in the midst of a hurry, enjoying summer and being together.
The HK Foods Grill Survey also confirms that grilling is a favorite of Finns.
New sausages are also expected. More than half of those who responded to the HK Foods survey want to try new sausage flavors every summer, especially the taste of the cheese is of interest to Finns.
