The thing with the records is that collecting does not end. The record shelf is never, really never, full enough, the record store our second living room and time quasi nonexistent as soon as the fingers dig in a somewhat dusty plate box. We don’t get enough. Therefore, the occasional inspiration for individual additions to the wish list should not be missing: then the ten most popular records that you should look for on the next small or large record hunt. With Queen, Pink Floyd, but also a soundtrack and the three ???.

10. Dire Straits: Dire Straits
When Mark started making music with David Knopfler, John Illsley and Pick Withers, it was not particularly good about the walls of the band members. Hence the name Dire Straits, which means “big bankruptcy”. How good that a real mastermind stood in the spotlight of smoky clubs: Mark Knopfler. Demos were recorded, quickly sent to the radio station – the BBC liked what he heard. But the Londoners initially went down, the punk pushed the blues rock. Until the world discovered “Sultans of Swing” and fell in love. Rightly so.

9. Guardians of the Galaxy: Awesome Mix Vol. 1
The only thing Peter stayed with from his mother, who died early, is a mixtape. And that gets into space through his kidnapping. As part of a completely strange world, the mixtape for the self-proclaimed star lord has become the mouthpiece of his generation. The Jackson Five express his grief with “I Want You Back”, “Come and Get Your Love” by Redbone. Marvin Gayes “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” occasional arrogance. A wonderful piece of Marvel film history.

8. The Beatles: Abbey Road
There is probably no iconic zebra crossing yet. The proof that cultural history is powerful enough to make a few washed-out and white lines on the asphalt a pilgrimage site. The associated plate is no less important: The eleventh studio album of the Beatles contains tracks such as “Come Together” and “I Want You (She’s So Heavy)”, “Octopus’s Garden” and “She Came in Through the Bathroom Window”. At the end of September, “Abbey Road” celebrates its 50th birthday – reason enough to increase the record shelf, if not for a long time.

7. Nirvana: Nevermind
Slopes! Who is not pumped along the street with “Nevermind” on the ears, with bedroom views and knotted hair? An album that is much more than a mere album. It is so important that nothing remains to be said, because words of this chapter of music history have not been justice for a long time. Nirvana became so many young people who recognized the opportunity to finally break out.

6. The Rolling Stones: Studio Albums Vinyl Collection 1971-2016
The history of the Rolling Stones is told on 15 records. Starting in 1971, ending in 2016. Although important albums of the early phase are left out (for example, “Aftermath” and “Let IT Bleed”) are left out, for this, from “Sticky Fingers” from 1971, all important milestones are contained and lovingly reworked.

5. Pink Floyd: Pulse
In 1994 Pink Floyd was traveling as part of her “The Division Bell” tour, of course there was also an analogous recording device on board, which recorded some concerts. The result is the live album “Pulse”, which boils up on four plates memories (or daydreams). Great record.

4. Queen: A Night at the Opera
As at a good party, Queen’s masterpiece, outdoor and karaoke genre break “Bohemian Rhapsody” can be found almost at the end of the plate. Before: “You’re My Best Friend”, “Lazing on a Sunday Afternoon” and “The Prophet’s Song”. From August to November 1975 one of the greatest rock bands ever stood in the studio to chisel “A Night at the Opera” in vinyl. The title comes – like successor “A Day at the Races” – from Marx Brothers’ comedian troop, the film that gives rise to film 40 years earlier.

3. The three ???: Episode 200: Fiery eye
He had all the colors of this universe and egged quite a bit – if you didn’t press the deck at a very specific point: the first cassette recorder. Dearest ribbon that was pregnant and back: the three ???. No matter which episode. Now the detective trio is celebrating anniversary and recently released the 200th episode. And it even appears on vinyl.

2. Pink Floyd: The Dark Side of the Moon
The most commercially successful album Pink Floyds is also a well thought -out concept album that should not be missing on any record shelf. Simply for completeness. And for the sake of ingenuity. “The Dark Side of the Moon” is one of the smoothest albums that we are used to from the avant -garde musicians, at the same time it also deals with difficult topics: how does mankind cope with the loss of utopia? What drives people mad? Who has power over us?

1. Queen: Greatest hits
When the news about the world went in November 1991 that Freddie had died Mercury, the music world stood still for more than a moment. Freddie Mercury, who was born as Farrokh Bulsara in Zanzibar-Stadt, was one of the most important rock singers of all time.

Tone recordings of Queen not only serve, but also the memory of its meaning and impact. The first compilation of the British band appeared in 1981: “Greatest Hits”.
