RKC Waalwijk had nothing to say at FC Groningen on Saturday evening. The Waalwijkers lost no chance with 6-1 in Stadium Euroborg. Godfried Roemeratoe made the only goal for the club in the 67th minute.
RKC has not won eight duels anymore. The team of the departing coach Henk Fraser lost last week with no less than 0-4 from FC Utrecht and has to fear seriously for relegation.
Mohamed Ihattaren was missing due to illness among the Waalwijkers, who had to miss top scorer Oskar Zawada for some time. Goalkeeper Mark Spenkelink received playing time for the first time since November 2023 and immediately got six hits on his ears.
Leandro Bacuna gave Groningen the lead early on. The 33-year-old routinier used a penalty kick that the home team had received after a corner on the arm of RKC midfielder Tim van de Loo had landed.
Beautiful bang
Not much later, RKC captain Michiel Kramer was close to the equalizer. The striker just headed a cross next to the top corner. Kramer got a good opportunity again in the twentieth minute, but waited for too long after Pintutics in the Groningen defense.

For a long time, with an economical 1-0 lead, Groningen seemed to look for the changing rooms, but on the stroke of half-time, Stijte Resink doubled the score from a corner. Just after the resumption, the 3-0 was again in the net. The goal came from Noam Emeran, who scored with a nice bang in the intersection.
Honorary
With his goal, Emeran threw the game in the end. RKC was unable to give something back and through Resink Groningen came to 4-0. Thom van Bergen made sure that RKC keeper Spenkelink had to fish again after an hour. It was due to a moment of inattention that Godfried Roemeratoe was allowed to make the honorary goal on behalf of RKC. The substitute took advantage of Thijmen Blokzijl and shot his first premier league goal from the edge of the penalty area.
A minute before time, Mats Seuntjens made the 6-1 for Groningen.
RKC Waalwijk now has six points less than Willem II, which is in sixteenth place.
