At a fire in a new apartment complex on Sint Theresiastraat in Raamsdonksveer, someone died on Wednesday evening. It is not yet clear who the victim is.
The fire brigade arrived with several cars to fight the fire. A little after half past ten, the signal fire was given. This means that the fire is under control and will not expand further.
Close windows and doors
The adjacent houses were evacuated by the fire brigade and the police. A lot of smoke was released during the fire. Local residents were advised to close the windows and doors and turn off the mechanical ventilation.
Daycare for residents
It is not yet known when the residents of the evacuated apartments can return home, reports the safety region. Reception is arranged for them.
The apartments were only delivered a few weeks ago, and are therefore brand new.
