A low fence has recently been placed around the pond on the station well in Kortemark. He must prevent the noduled American crayfish, an invasive species, spreading through the country.
The lobsters were noticed six months ago by the Nature and Forest Agency. The species does not belong here by nature and endangers the balance of the local ecosystem. That is why the agency together with the municipality is looking for an effective way to reduce or eradicate the animals.
