Handball Bundesliga club THW Kiel can continue to dream of the second title of the season: The “Zebras” moved into the final Four in Hamburg on Tuesday evening through a 35:30 (16:15) in the quarter-final second leg of the European League against Limoges.
After 26:26 in the first leg in France, the home success was enough to progress. The Final Four will be held again in Hamburg on May 24th and 25th as in 2024. The semi -finals of the European League will be drawn on Wednesday afternoon.
An opponent could then be the SG Flensburg-Handewitt. The eternal rival of the Kieler denies his second leg against Gog in the further course of the evening. The SG won the first leg in Denmark with 29:26.
Kieler in half one without Esprit
In the first round in front of 6,294 spectators, the Kielers were a decent piece from their top performance. It was not played twelve minutes when Andreas Wolff couldn’t hold back. The German national goalkeeper shook his head annoyed, twisted his eyes and let his forefends know in a few concise words that he did not really agree with the overall situation. In no time in zero-kommanix, the beautiful 6: 3 lead had become a 6: 6.
In the first half, the THW mainly had problems with the shooters in the half positions, with which Nigerian Faruk Yusuf (five goals in six attempts) on half -right and the Egyptian Seif Mohamed Yehia El Deraa (two out of three) on half -left.
After 11:13 (25th), Jicha put the green card on the temporary table. Time out! After that, it went much better with his team, in which Tomas Mrkva guarded the goal from the 21st minute. Thanks to a 5: 2 in the last five minutes of the first half, we actually went into the cabin with a 16:15 lead.
THW Kiel increases after the break
The appearance of the hosts was not glamorous immediately after the restart. But: The “zebras” now literally bite into the game and literally developed the first three-goal lead (21:18, 37.), which also led to guest coach Alberto Enterrios took a break early in the second round.
As much as Limoges handball, which participated in the European stage for the first time this season, also struggled, now the THW Kiel had finally arrived in a mode that led to a comfortable lead. The game at 33:26 was practically decided seven minutes before the final siren. After that, it was no longer tight for the Kiel.
And so after the triumph in the DHB Cup you still have the chance of your second title this season.
