The women from VfL Wolfsburg are currently being trained by Sabrina Eckhoff. An old acquaintance is to return to the Autostadt next season.

VfL Wolfsburg has apparently found a new coach for its women’s team. As the “kicker” reports, Stephan Lerch will return to his old place of work for the coming season. The 40-year-old had already looked after the wolf from 2017 to 2021.

Lerch is currently still working for league competitor TSG Hoffenheim. There he initially took over the male juniors in 2021 and moved to the women’s area in 2023. Until the summer of 2024, he was both head coach and sporting director. He gave up the double function for the new season and has concentrated on the tasks as a sporting director since then. Hoffenheim already announced in March that Lerch will not extend his expiring contract.

During his first term in Wolfsburg, Lerch celebrated great success: three German championships, four of the eleven DFB Cup victories and two final participation in the Champions League (2018 and 2020) are in its balance sheet.

Since the resignation of Tommy Stroot in early April, the previous assistant coach Sabrina Eckhoff has been in the interior.
