Police judge in Ghent drops all matters in protest against operation: “Punishments are often not carried out, explain that to the victims”

A rarely seen scene on Tuesday in the Ghent police court. All files that were on the role were promptly postponed to … 28 April 2026. Reason? The judge refused to run longer in what he describes as an “unacceptable situation” within the judiciary. With a sharp argument – pronounced in openness – he left the full room still. All the defendants were allowed to go home. Chances are that they will no longer be punished next year.
