The list of coaches recently employed by FC Schalke 04 is long, very long, especially due to numerous entrances in recent years alone. After it has now been known that another coach will be added from the summer because Kees van Wonderen will be history again shortly, the rumor cuisine is already bubbling violently.
Seven trainer names were last traded, one of them: ex-HSV coach Tim Walter. He knows the 2nd Bundesliga very well from his time at Hamburger SV, VfB Stuttgart and Holstein Kiel, a fact that should be an important factor in the search for coach for new sports director Frank Baumann (officially from June 1).
With “Bild” it was said that Walter’s name had always appeared in Schalke circles in the past few weeks. After his end at Hull City at the end of 2024, Walter would also be available.
What makes a possible commitment more realistic: “Bild” has observed that a close confidant and long-time assistant coach of Walter has been following FC Schalke 04 on Instagram since last Friday, namely Julian Hübner. This was on Walter’s side at the last station at Hull City (07/2024 to 11/2024) and previously at the HSV (07/2021 to 02/2024).
Schalke does not want to “go into name”
The boulevard leaf evaluates the fact that Hübner is now a follower from S04 (and also a Schalke fan page), as a “treacherous sign”. In fact, it has been a signal for an upcoming change in the past when a player or coach suddenly followed a club on social media.
