Where will the captain of Volendam look at Excelsior? “At home on the couch with my wife and children,” Veerman is clear. “It makes a difference that Robert Mühren lives in the neighborhood, so if we become champions, we will come together. We will not go for a beer, because we still want to put down a good party tomorrow.”

The players of FC Volendam will not go and watch this afternoon. “It is awkward to do that a day before the game. Then you will all be ready soon and then Excelsior will win 3-0. It would not have been in the mood.”
Although it always produces legendary images, what about the selection of Leicester City in 2016. They became champions and watched the championship match at Jamie Vardy’s home. “If you say so, it would have been a nice idea afterwards,” laughs Veerman.
The title of Volendam is a certainty if Excelsior loses or is equating against FC Emmen. That game starts this afternoon at 4.45 pm. The eel farmers play against Jong FC Utrecht tomorrow night.
