The fact that top striker Harry Kane is still waiting for his first club title in professional football at over 30 has long been a running gag in the football discourse-at the latest since FC Bayern’s free round last season. Now he is facing the championship with the Munich team, but of all people in the game in which the record champions could recapture the shell of Leverkusen’s previous year’s championship, Kane has to watch. The reason is a yellow lock.
The warning in the game of FC Bayern against Mainz 05 (3-0) was the fifth for the attacker this season. As a result, the repeated Premier League and current Bundesliga goalkeeper king may not participate in Leipzig (3:30 p.m.) next Saturday. “Crazy decision. It was never a yellow card,” said Kane at “Sky” after the victory against Mainz, in which his 25th goal of the season was denied.
“Unfortunately, people sometimes come to the Allianz Arena and try to profile themselves personally. It was never a foul, and it is disappointing to miss a big game,” complained Kane. After a duel was whistled against him as a foul, the London native captured the ball and thus prevented a fast Mainz attack. With all the trouble, Kane also noticed: “It doesn’t mean that I don’t win the title because of that, and I will celebrate it like no other.”
Kane spent almost his entire professional career at Tottenham Hotspur in front of Bayern, which is why the malice of Kanes’s title was never really justified. The Nordlondoners are among the big clubs in England, but far from the big ones. The Spurs are currently on the 16th place of the league, the best placement of the club in the Premier League was that of the runner -up in the 2016/17 season. In front of it and afterwards, the LilyWhites closed the championship as third. In 2019 they were in the Champions League final, 2021 in the EFL Cup final. The fact that these achievements could be achieved was not least due to Kane, who scored 280 goals in 435 games for the Spurs.
