For his newly published work “Fire Cannot Kill a Dragon“James Hibberd spoke to all people from the“ Game of Thrones ”cosmos and found a lot of insiders, embarrassments and opinions. The actors and the rest of the team reveal, for example, how uncomfortable the HBO show never published for all of them. But George RR Martin also has their say and explains which special scene is disturbing it. E is about the moment when Khal Drogo rapes his new woman in the wedding night. Although Daenerys cries, he doesn’t let go of her.
None of this was agreed
The book is a love scene in which Khal notes the nervousness of Daenerys, wipes away their tears and slowly approach each other until sex occurs. In the series, David Benioff and DB knows that Khal simply pulls out his things and, despite their significant discomfort, makes them rabid.
“We never talked about it. Everything made it worse, not better,” says George RR’s new background report. The series had already been criticized because of its dealing with sexual violence, and the statement by the book author has the discussion re -infected.
For the series, everything made more sense?
However, the showrunner know how to explain their unpunished approach. “Here is a girl who is absolutely afraid of this barbaric warlord with whom she is married. It is the last in the world that she wants, but somehow she seems to have a completely joyful sexual relationship with him at the end of this wedding night. It didn’t quite work with us,” says Benioff.
Even the actors could not have understood the change and so one remained true to this type of story, although there are far more nuances in the template. “It works in the book, but we just didn’t have so much time and access to the thoughts of the characters,” describes her approach, in which they ultimately preferred to set shortcuts for storytelling. In any case, George RR Martin couldn’t win over it.
