The lawsuit on the murder of four Dutch IKON journalists in 1982 in Salvador on Wednesday was postponed to 3 June. That says Gert Kuiper, brother of Jan, one of the journalists who was murdered.
Gert Kuiper is in El Salvador because of the case. Today it was announced in a press conference that it is uncertain whether enough jury members will show up who should judge the case, says Kuiper. Later Kuiper confirmed that the court case will not take place on Wednesday and will be postponed to 3 June.
“It’s disappointing. I hadn’t counted on this.” During the Chasango session, Gert Kuiper’s statement would be read, among other things. Chalatenango is the city where the four Dutch journalists were lured and shot in a military ambush.
The former Minister of Defense of El Salvador and two high military officers are on trial for the murders.
