Max Verstappen is currently in third place in Formula 1 driver ranking. Most recently there were rumors about the world champion. Red Bull’s managing director now commented on this.
Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen remains part of the team, according to Red Bull’s managing director Oliver Mintzlaff. In an interview with the “Bild”, the 49-year-old was convinced that the four-time world champion would continue his way with Red Bull: Verstappen “will also drive for us in 2026,” said Mintzlaff.
Although there is speculation about possible exit clauses, Mintzlaff sees no reason to worry. It was not for no reason to sign Verstappen by the end of 2028 and “recently positioned itself clearly”. The Dutch himself had been surprised in Saudi Arabia about the ongoing discussions about his future-he himself speech the least. According to Mintzlaff, Verstappen once said that he started his career at Red Bull and would also like to end it there. Nothing changed according to his knowledge.
The managing director also recalled how much both sides would have benefited from each other. Red Bull promoted Verstappen early – including through the in -house youth program. After a complete 2015 season in the then Toro-Rosseo team, he was promoted to the main team in 2016. Since then it has been an integral part of the Red Bull squad and has so far celebrated 64 Grand Prix victories and 42 pole positions. He got the World Cup title from 2021 to 2024. Mintzlaff added to Verstappen: “To the truth, he also owes a lot to Red Bull.”
Verstappen is currently eight points behind Lando Norris in the overall ranking. A victory at the Grand Prix of Saudi Arabia (from 7 p.m. in the T-Online Live ticker) could bring him back the World Cup lead.
Norris starts in the McLaren from tenth. His team -mate Oscar Piatri goes into the race from the second place and has five points more than a stacking. Despite the currently difficult to drive cars, Mintzlaff sees no signs of doubts from his driver: a difficult phase is experienced, but the Lasse does not falter.
