In just two days, almost 15,000 euros has been collected for the free toy store Pompidom from Charles and Ans in Deurne. The two fell victim to cyber criminals, so that a large amount of the bank account was stolen in a devious manner. After they had told their emotional story, the donations and compassionate reactions came in.
The despair was great with Charles Engelen and Ans van den Broek when they found out last Friday that the scammers had looted around 15,000 of the bank account of the free toy store. “It is so shown and so cowardly, but we have fallen victim to cyber crime,” Charles said with a lump in his throat.
“I have become ten years older in two days.”
“They killed our child with their theft,” Ans said angry. “88 euros and 62 cents, so much is still on the bank account of the toy store in Deurne and everything still has to be paid. We have built Pompidom with heart and soul, but everything is actually broken now,” said a broken Charles. “I have become ten years older in two days.”
People sympathize en masse with the owners of the charity store, it turns out. The Donate for Pompidom Has raised an amount of 14,620 euros in two days on Sunday morning. This means that almost the entire amount is back. The Gevers support Charles and Ans with sweet words: “The country is behind you!”, “Mainly keep going with this good work” and “Stay in yourself and the goodness of people believing.”

Earlier the two feared that after four years they had to put the ax. “Our fixed costs continue, while we no longer have money,” said Ans.
“It’s just as hard, but then with joy.”
They call heart -warming the compassionate reactions they have received. “It was one of our volunteers yesterday and she offered to give her birthday money to us,” says Ans emotionally. “It was just as fast as when we knew we had lost everything, but then with joy. This touches us hard in the heart.”
