Darren Hayes, 52, of Savage Garden, says he has fainted in his home in Santa Monica in California.

– I was conscious. I fainted as soon as I got out of bed and fell three times. I struck my face so hard that it broke my chin from the left. I woke up bloody, my head was sore from the left and 9 teeth were crushed, Hayes writes To Instagram.

The X -ray published by Hayes shows the metal plates placed on his chin.

The accident happened about a month ago, and Hayes has since recovered at home.

“If I had fallen in another position, I could have died,” Hayes says.

He says he was in studies that examined the heart and ruled out neurological causes.

Hayes praises the treatment he has received.

– I have a great cardiologist and oral surgeon and we try to find out how and why I was fainting. My heart is normal and I have no brain tumor or anything that could cause an accident.

Hayes says directly that fainting was not due to alcohol or drugs because he does not use them.

– This was a shock to me.

Savage Garden was an Australian pop band that included a keyboard player in addition to Hayes Daniel Jones.

Its most famous songs are I want you and Truly Madly Deeply.

Founded in 1994, the band broke up in 2001. After the breakdown of Savage Garden, Hayes has made a solo career.
