Thanks to two goals from Höler, Freiburg won against Hoffenheim. As a result, the team underpinned its European Cup ambitions. RB disappointed.
SC Freiburg is still traveling towards European Cup qualification. On the 30th Bundesliga game day, the Breisgauer won a spectacular game at home against Hoffenheim 3-2 (2: 2).
After two home defeats, the Freiburgers prevailed 3-2 (2: 2) thanks to a double pack of Lucas Höler and thus prevented the hiring of a club negative record in the Bundesliga.
Höler (28th minute) and Ritsu Doan (36th) met in the first round in front of 34,100 spectators for the sports club before the Hoffenheimer Marius Bülter and Andrej Kramaric made the game open within three minutes (45. +2/45. +5). After the restart, Höler secured the 14th win of the season with his second goal (57th).
The Freiburgers therefore continue to belong to the upper third of the table and can have justified hopes of returning to the international stage. Most recently, the sports club played in the Europa League in the 2023/24 season.
Thanks to Benjamin Šeško, RB Leipzig prevented an embarrassing defeat against the bottom of the Holstein Kiel. The striker, which was courted across Europe, made his goal to 1-1 (0: 1) for damage limitation in the fight for the Champions League. However, the Saxony worried about goalkeeper Péter Gulácsi, who had to be treated for minutes after a violent collision in the 62nd minute and then injured.
In front of 45,940 fans, Shuto Machino (44th minute) shocked the Leipziger, who had been weakly playing until then, with his eighth goal of the season. The leadership of the newcomer was by no means undeserved. Šeško converted a penalty in the 74th minute and secured RB another point.
Werder can continue to dream of European cup nights next season at the Weser. Thanks to an increase in performance and a late goal, the SVW won 1-0 (0-0) against relegation candidate Bochum and remains in the race for the coveted international ranks. Despite some weak phases, the team of coach Ole Werner celebrated the fourth league victory one after the other.
In front of 42,100 spectators in the sold -out Weser Stadium, Mitchell Weiser (80th minute) scored the goal of the day, which also withstanded a review by the video referee. Previously, the VAR had withdrawn from Marvin Ducksch (55th). In a heated final phase and pack formation, Bochum Ibrahima Sissoko still collected yellow-red (86.).
Denis Vavro has just prevented the fifth defeat in VfL Wolfsburg series. With its deflected header, the Slovake saved the troubled Lower Saxony a 2: 2 (1: 2) at FSV Mainz 05 – in the 89th minute. The hosts around the returned national players Nadiem Amiri and Jonathan Burkardt are allowed to dream of participating in the European Cup, but went off the field with long faces.
The team of coach Ralph Hasenhüttl was only able to fend off the next setback with great effort. Captain Maximilian Arnold had already given VfL in front of 31,500 spectators with a 30-meter shot in the third minute. Jae-Sung Lee (37th) and Dominik Kohr (40th) turned the game before the break.
