In February it was announced that Uroš Velepec released his office as head coach of the German biathlon men. Now he could soon coach another nation.

Uroš Velepec coached the German gentlemen during the Biathlon World Cup in February. But then the 57-year-old announced his end at the German Association. Ex-biathlete Erik Lesser said at the time that the end of Velepec came “completely surprising”. The German biathlete Philipp Horn said “tz”: “There were simply differences that both sides could not clarify.” Now the former German head coach is apparently faced with a new task.

As the Polish sports journalist Sebastian Krystek writes on the platform X, Velepec could become head coach of the Polish biathletes. There is still no official confirmation, but the evidence of this is condensed.

Also because the Polish association has announced a press conference for April 25 and wants to announce the new biathlon coach of the men on it. According to the journalist Krystek, Velepec and the association had agreed on a collaboration. This would mean that the current coach of the Poles, Rafal Lepel, would have to go. Krystek writes that there should be a separation from him and that he obviously does not remain.

Uroš Velepec used to be a biathlete himself and took part in two Olympic Games. In addition, as a trainer, he has already trained the Slovenian and Ukrainian team and was head coach of the German biathlon men from 2023 to 2025.

According to Velepec Tobias Reiter, the new head trainer office took over at the German Ski Association (DSV). Velepec emphasized that a “new impulse” in the German team was needed.
