The festival season started with the start of Paaspop in Schijndel. Around 35,000 visitors a day enjoy the largest national and international artists up to and including Sunday. And even more fun is that there are many unexpected activities on the festival site. This way you can throw eggs, make mini waves and even let your shoes brush.

Anyone who just comes onto the site bumps into a group of men in neat white shirts. It’s all about cleaning shoes with these men. “It is the first festival of the season and you want to have neat shoes. With neat shoes into the meadow,” says Pim Kromhout from Tilburg who is cleaning hundreds of shoes during the festival in Schijndel.

Festival visitors who want shiny shoes must first sweep their feet. Then you can sit in a chair and a wellness treatment for your shoes follows.

The secret of a good clean shoe? “Dry patience, love and dry your shoes in the evening when you get home. That is the tip for the festival, but actually forever. When your shoes have gone wet, always dry,” Pim explains while brushing shoes.

A little further on all about the old Dutch game of butter, cheese and eggs. “And then as it really is intended,” says Koen “with real butter, with real cheese and real eggs.”

“I did not expect this when I walked onto the site here,” says Rene from Den Bosch. Together with Froukje, he was seduced to play a game. Froukje throws the butter against a piece of sail. Rene follows with an egg and eventually has the first three-on-one row. “How do they get it, how do they get it made up. Nice man. That’s how they do it here.”

But that is not nearly everything. Colors, chair dance, face painting, dino dancing and even mini waves is possible on Paaspop. “Everything is possible, because it is Paaspop,” says Eveline, who ensures that everything goes well on the golf course. “We stand here between Claude and Joost Klein.”

Eveline smile from ear to ear at the entrance of the golf course. “Rest, patience and focus is the most important thing. But that becomes more difficult with a few beers on.” Lars from Schijndel says with a wink that he has bought a ticket for Paaspop especially for the golf course. “We had heard this came and then we came. We can practice three days.”

With a beautiful sun, 16 degrees and full festival tents for Flemming, Roxy Dekker and Son Mieux, among others, the first day of Paaspop started beautifully.
