A tragic incident shakes the Gabunian football: national player Aaron Poupendza is dead. The 28-year-old fell out of a high-rise in China.
The Gabonian footballer Aaron Poupendza was killed at the age of 28. As the football association of the Central African country announced, the attacker fell from the eleventh floor of a residential building in Hangzhou, China.
According to the state broadcaster “Gabon 24”, the exact background of the incident are still unclear. An investigation by the Chinese authorities is underway. Poupendza was last under contract with the Chinese first division club Zhejiang FC. The striker was only moved to Asia in January.
The newly elected Gabonian President Brice Oligui Nguema expressed his condolences: “With great sadness, I found out about Aaron Eboupendza tragic death, a talented center striker who was honored with the Gabonian football”.
In the 2020/21 season, Poupendza had played for Hatayspor in Turkey and became a top scorer of the Süper Lig.
