Dr. and poet Jenni Haukio said in YLE’s radio interview that there has been no time for poetry in recent years.

Dr. Jenni Haukio is also known as a poet. On Tuesday, Haukio visited YLE as a guest of Radio 1 afternoon and also told what his poet’s career was.
– Now I haven’t had much time to write in the next few years, says Haukio in a radio interview.
– Writing is a bit like reading: it can be long breaks and can continue. Poetry remains in my life.
Haukio said he read a lot of poems of others.
Haukio works as the director of the Publishing Company WSOY’s social relationships.
In the interview, Haukio emphasized the importance of literacy and showed concerns about the general weakening of literacy. He described that weak literacy goes hand in hand with other social problems.

However, Haukio rejoiced that there is still a group of lust readers. He said he read to his son Aaro.
– The reader’s identity is built in early childhood, primary school, Haukio said, and continued that grabbing the book is more challenging if there is no contact surface in childhood.
However, he does not consider the awakening reading to be impossible later. Haukio hopes that every child will have a reader for an adult.
