Board of the 1. FC Köln announces withdrawal
The reigning board of the 1st FC Köln announced its retirement on Saturday. Werner Wolf, Eckhard Sauren and Carsten Wettich announced that they will no longer be available as a trio for another term. “After intensive considerations and conversations, we – Werner Wolf, Carsten Wettich and Eckhard Sauren – came to the conclusion that we were not running for a further term as a board team in the current composition,” said the message.
However, the trio had a back door – in case one of the three board members wants to compete with a new team. “In very open and constructive conversations, we agreed that it is open to every member of the current board of directors to run again for the office of the board in another constellation.” The 1. FC Köln will choose a new board in autumn 2025.
FC coach Gerhard Struber has to change his squad in a position compared to the 0-1 loss last weekend against Hertha BSC. During the week, left -back Max Finkgräfe suffered a muscular injury, which did not take the trip to the away game against SpVgg Greuther Fürth.
