At 8.00 am 3,000 hikers started with routes of 25, 19 and 11 kilometers. Families could register for the Family Walk of 6 kilometers.
In addition to the walkers this year, around 8,000 runners were at the start for the 5 and 10 kilometers. The starting signal for the children’s race was given by alderman Jacqueline Kalk. Children aged 4 to 13 could opt for two distances: 800 and 1,500 meters.
Startschoten
The running part for adults that started in the afternoon was stiffly sold out. The starting signal for the 5 kilometers was given by Matthijs Mennes, director of organizer Le Champion. The Hilversum mayor Gerhard van der Top did that for the 10 kilometers.
For Kika, the runners raised 101,783.56 euros, which is spent on scientific research into childhood cancer.
