A signature that will make Formula 1 fans take notice worldwide. The seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher, in medical rehabilitation since his serious skiing accident in December 2013, has signed a driver helmet for a charitable purpose-but with help. This reported Formula 1 legend Sir Jackie Stewart, for whose organization “Race Against Dementia” and the fight against dementia of the helmet was donated.
“It is wonderful that Michael was able to sign the helmet for this important purpose: an illness for which there is no treatment,” quotes the “Daily Mail” Stewart. Then the 85-year-old continued: “His wife helped him.” Schumacher’s signature “completes the sentence with every world champion that is still among us.” According to the news agency “Reuters”, a spokeswoman for the Schumacher family Stewart’s statement confirmed.
In addition to many other autographs on the right bottom, there is actually a “MS” lettering on a helmet that was decorated with Jackie Stewart’s tartan pattern, which, according to the three-time world champion “Schumi”, could apply with the support of his wife Corinna. Stewart will wear the helmet on Sunday in the run -up to the Grand Prix of Bahrain on a round of honor in the Tyrell from his title season 1973. The occasion is the 60th anniversary of Stewart’s Formula 1 debut. After that, the helmet should be auctioned.
Stewart had launched the foundation after dementia was diagnosed with wife in 2014. Since then, the Scotsman has been passionate about the fight against the tricky illness.
Michael Schumacher has lived in Switzerland since his accident, and there has been no further information on his health (you can read about this here). Wife Corinna and manager Sabine Kehm are strikingly paying attention to the preservation of the privacy of the record world champion.
