Hamburger SV and the 1st FC Köln wanted to present the top of the table of the 2nd Bundesliga. But both teams made springs completely surprisingly.

The promotion race in the 2nd Bundesliga remains exciting-because the two top favorites both clapped on Friday evening. Table leader Hamburger SV lost his home game at Kellerkind Eintracht Braunschweig with 2: 4 (0: 2). At the same time, 1st FC Köln, currently second, did not come beyond a 1: 1 (1: 1) at Greuther Fürth.

The “red pants” were caught ice cold by the guest from Lower Saxony in the first round. Within two minutes it was 2-0 for Braunschweig. At first Leon Bell Bell met (40th minute). Then HSV professional Silvan Hefti missed a cross in his own box (42nd).

Davie Selke was able to shorten again in half two (74th), but Julian Baas sealed the Hamburg defeat (84th). Rayan Philippe made the debacle perfect for the home team (86th). Selke operated again cosmetics in added time (90.+6).

Meanwhile, Cologne initially ran behind in Fürth. Noel Futkeu had the “Kleeblatt” cheered (12th). After a foul on FC professional Noah Pauli in the Fürth penalty area, there was a penalty shortly before the break. Luca Waldschmidt sank it to compensate (45th).

In the table, the two promotion candidates stay ahead despite their mistakes. The HSV is 52 points, Cologne at 51. The pursuers – especially Magdeburg (46 points), Kaiserslautern (46) and Paderborn (45), can move to the top duo in the coming days.

Even before the game, the HSV had to cope with bad news, defensive player Miro Muheim is noticeable for the time being. His colleagues had problems with the rebellious Braunschweigers from the start, the guests were the more active team – and rewarded themselves with a double strike before the break.

HSV coach Polzin reacted with a three-time change during the break, but dangerous offensive campaigns only had the guests: Bell Bell put the ball from left into the back room, the end of Philippe roamed the latte (54.). The HSV reared up again, Selke hit his head – but Baas and Philippe made the decision.

The Cologne team performed in the first half. However, FC was able to compensate for the former Fürth lead at a psychologically favorable time shortly before the break. After the change, both teams themselves left the best chances. Substitute Mark Uth (63.) failed after a pass from Damion Downs on Fürth’s keeper Nahuel Noll.

On the other hand, the Futkeu (68.), which was impressed by Learst Pacarada, missed his second goal. Schwäbe then reacted well against Jomaine Consbruch (76.). The Cologneers were unlucky when there was no further penalty at a foul against Downs (85th).
