SMCP appoints new CEO for the Asia business

The SMCP Group has appointed Kleine Tan as the new Chief Executive Officer for its Asia business. He follows Jimmy Lam, who resigns from his function to “perceive new possibilities outside the group,” said the French fashion group on Friday.

Tan, who started the position on April 1, switched from LVMH to SMCP. At the French luxury goods group, he recently held the role of Loewe Asia’s president. In this function, he contributed significantly to the expansion of the brand in the region. Tan also worked in various positions at Louis Vuitton in retail and merchandising and held regional leadership roles at the British fashion brand Burberry. He also held similar positions at the Italian luxury label Prada and the French luxury brand GiveCenchy, where he worked as a Managing Director for Asia-Pacific and VP Japan & APAC.

At SMCP, he appears at a time when the company continues to implement its strategic roadmap for Asia, says Isabelle Guichot, CEO of the group. She added that she was “confident that little ones bring in a new, pragmatic and competent vision, take advantage of potential opportunities and the teams will inspire to achieve new milestones”.

In his own explanation, Tan said: “I am very happy to join SMCP. I am looking forward to the close cooperation with the teams on site with great expectations to build on the existing strong foundations. I thank Isabelle Guichot and the rest of the SMCP management team for the trust that you put in me to further promote the development of our brands in the entire region.”
