The works cost a total of 1.5 million euros. The Flemish government is investing 1.2 million in the project. If everything goes according to plan, the nostalgia will be launched again in the autumn of 2025.
After the restoration, Navigo wants to use the ship for tourist boat trips from Nieuwpoort. There will be a special pontoon near the museum where visitors can view the ship. “We are really planning to go on the sea with tourists,” says Demoen. “The nostalgia is a ship like there used to be hundreds of feeding along our coast. We are very proud that we can keep this for the future.”
