– This has been a difficult decision, but it feels right, Kimmo Kapanen tells Aftonbladet in an interview.
Timrå’s sports director left his job even though he had two more seasons remaining. There were family reasons behind the background.
– My wife can no longer be out of work in Finland. He can do telework in Finland, but not abroad. In addition, some of the children are approaching school age, so now was the time to go home, Kapanen explains.
As early as February, the man told Iltalehti that he wanted to continue with the company.
– Timrå IK is an important club for me, and in a way I get to do dream work here. Not ready to be here yet. You can learn every day, and I also try to bring Finnish spices to Swedish work culture, Kapanen told Iltalehti.
However, he now said to Aftonbladet that he was thinking about departure in February.
– Since then, we have talked and mapped different opportunities and options.
According to Kapanen, he also thought with the club that he would work remotely from Finland.
– In the end, we both thought it was not an optimal solution. I want to be in daily contact with the team and the leaders and it is not possible from Finland.
Kapanen said he would work for Timrå for another couple of months, but after that the plans are completely open.
