If you say MSc Meppel, the surname Jordan will soon fall. In the 115-year history of the football club, Gerrit grew into honorary chairman. And membership of son Nico has been around for more than 80 years.

In the Second World War, Nico Jordan joined MSC. He was 12 years old. “It was not possible to become a member earlier,” says the old age blanket of the Meppeler Football Association. “The only thing you could do at the time was playing football. And hockey,” he remembers. “For the rest there was nothing.”

What young Jordan could not imagine is that he joins the Radio Drenthe program at the age of 95 Hemmeltied. He is a special guest to consider the 115th anniversary of MSC. Nobody has been lasting so long.

As a football player, he wore the black and white and as the years passed Jordan made himself for the youth department. “I couldn’t give training. I became a youth secretary. I did that for a very long time.” Jordan digs in his memory. “In my time you had much fewer teams, and you didn’t see those very little ones at all.”

The times have changed. In the last few years, Jordan’s visits to the sports complex on the Ezingerweg have steadily declined. “Since I have been sitting with my hip, I don’t get there that often.” The advantage is that his home is less than 100 meters away from the complex. And so he might witness the festivities around the anniversary. “As long as they open the door,” he jokes.
