Marianne Vos will participate in the Tour of Flanders on Sunday. The rider of Visma – Lease a Bike reported to the cycling race across Flanders on Wednesday due to illness, but is fit on time to start in Oudenaarde, her team reports.

“Because I have not been completely fit in recent days, the preparation did not go ideal,” says 37-year-old Vos on the website of her team. “But luckily I feel good again. I am happy that I can be at the start on Sunday. The Tour of Flanders is always special.”

Vos won ‘De Ronde’ once in 2013 and is participating for the thirteenth time this year. She shares leadership with the French former world champion Pauline Ferrand-Prévot, who is making her return on the road this year. “It is currently difficult to say whether we are optimally in front of it, but Marianne feels better again and Pauline has shown in the past games that she has taken a step in driving one -day races,” said team leader Jan Boven.
