The death toll as a result of the earthquake in Myanmar rose to 3,354. International press agencies write this on Saturday based on Myanmarse Staatsmedia. In addition, 4,850 people were injured and 220 people are still missing.

Last week’s earthquake had a force of 7.7 and caused major destruction in the Asian country, where a military coup in February 2021 took place and has been going on since then a civil war. After the disaster, the internationally isolated Junta made a rare call for international help, which gets it from China, Russia and India, among others.

After the earthquake, the junta announced a ceasefire, but according to the United Nations, that is not properly complied with. For example, no help is offered to rebellious areas in the country. Volker Türk, the High Commissioner of Human Rights of the United Nations, called on Friday To “immediate and unlimited access” for rescue workers in all affected areas in Myanmar.
