Everything about the franchise companies for officially certified cover bands.

1. Gwar

The inclined fan may not care whether he is fully resorted from Nippleus Erectus or Cornelius Carnage, from the real Beefcake the Mighty or the imitated Flattus Maximus with artificial blood and fake sperm, the last founding member of the Splattercoreler Gwar has left the last founding member forever. His successor Mike Bishop alias Blöthar The Berserker first joined the band in 1987, but at that time as Beefcake the Mighty. Casey Orr is currently in its horror costume.

2. YES

The English Prog gods are no longer what they were once. Founded in London in 1968, bass player Chris Squire Anno said goodbye to the very beginning of the very beginning in 2015. After all, guitarist Steve Howe has been with interruptions since 1970. Anyone who curred up too quickly on the tapes may also succumb to a careless mistake. The current singer is Jon Davison, not to be confused with original voice Jon Anderson.

3. Lynyrd Skynyrd

With songs like “Free Bird” and “Sweet Home Alabama”, the Southern rockers from Lynyrd Skynyrd once immersed themselves in the eternal flannel shirt almanach. Bandleader Ronnie van Zant, guitarist Steve Gaines and other crew members died during an airplane crash on October 17, 1977. Ten years later there was a first reunion under the aegis of Ronnie’s brother Johnny, who keeps the Lynyrd shop going today. Since the death of guitarist Gary Rossington in 2023, all original members have died, as did Leonard Skinner (2010), the sports teacher and the band’s name.

4. In Flames

The original line -up of the Swedish death metallers has long since been sorry. Founded in 1990 by Jesper Strömblad, he led the band until his exit in 2010. Today, Fridén and Björn Gelotte form the nucleus of the ensemble, both since 1995. The conversion did not break off their popularity, on the contrary: Three of the last five albums of in Flames in Flames topped the album charts in their home country, with Sounds of a Playground Fading (2011) and Foreegone (2023) that also succeeded in Germany.

5. Judas Priest

If the British metal gods had remained in their founding formation, they probably played at blues festivals today: in 1969, singer Al Atkins, guitarist John Perry, who committed suicide and namesake Bruno Stapenhill and drummer John Partridge, sent the group into the race as a formation that was crowed up to the blues rock. Rob Halford only joined the band in 1973, bass player Ian Hill has been there since 1970.

6. Napalm Death

So young, so influential, so visionary – actually okay that Nik and Council leave the shop again relatively early, her work has already been done. The two fanzine makers and genre pioneers in SPE are just 13 and 14 years old when they founded their first volume with Napalm Death in May 1981 in Merid’s English, West Midlands. An ensemble that goes into history: as the fastest band of her time, a superlative stick in the quiver, from whose brutal roar of grindcore rises. When Napalm Deaths Epochalbum SCUM appeared in 1987, to which Nik still sings the vocals of the A-side, the two have already moved on, the band has already been a completely new one.
