On the stage of Dwars through Flanders, Wallays received a symbolic check from the organization. “Five months ago I doubted whether it would work, but now I feel the support of the people and that is fantastic,” said Wallays. “It feels good to start.”
Wallays will visit various symbolic places along the way, including Aosta, where his uncle won the Tour of Italy in 1983. He will also visit the places where cyclists Bjorg Lambrecht and Wouter Weylandt died.
