Central defender Nico Schlotterbeck is one of the few constants in the current season at Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund. With good performance in the BVB and DFB jersey, the defender also attracted the interest of other clubs. Now he has commented on the rumors that he could possibly leave the black and yellow in summer.
For Nico Schlotterbeck, BVB is “the first point of contact”, the 25-year-old announced at “Sky”: “I am really happy to be here and know what it means to play for this club.”
Schlotterbeck’s contract runs until 2027, in the coming months there may be discussions with those responsible for the association. “We will sit down in the summer. Those responsible, I and my family. And then we will go through the plan for the coming years,” said Schlotterbeck, who pushed behind: “The club can do much more than the performance it does.”
Most recently, the central defender was repeatedly associated with top international clubs, such as Paris Saint-Germain. Schlotterbeck has also been traded at Liverpool FC – great competition for BVB, which would like to extend prematurely. Finally, it was said that Schlotterbeck’s salary could be clearly adjusted and even doubled in the event of a remaining, and the perspective on the captain’s office could also be an incentive.
Schlotterbeck wants to play internationally: “Preferably with BVB”
Last but not least, Schlotterbeck is important to be able to compete on European stage with the best players in the world.
“International playing, that makes up the club,” he emphasized: “Because it has become a habit for years. But I also have to deal with what I did to do that we are not in the first four (places, editor’s note). I would like to play internationally, preferably with BVB.”
The Dortmund are seven game days before the end of the season, seven points behind fourth Mainz.
