Despite an interim 1-0 lead, SC Freiburg surprisingly lost its home game against Union Berlin on Sunday afternoon with 1: 2 (1-1). For the Breisgauer, this is a tough damper in the fight for European places. Freiburg missed the leap to fifth place and is now seventh. Union, meanwhile, distances itself from the relegation ranks through the three of the three and remains in 13th place.
Lucas Höler scored for the sports club after 29 minutes. But the cheers were hardly sacrificed, then Union was already beating back. Rani Khedira equalized less than two minutes after the Freiburg was guided (30th). Shortly after the break, the guests turned the game. Andrej Ilić headed – the winning goal for Union (48th).
Meanwhile, SC Freiburg is particularly concerned about the bankruptcy after the bankruptcy. The goalkeeper collided with teammate Philipp Lienhart in the first round and took her shoulder in pain. At first the 22-year-old continued, but had to be replaced after 58 minutes due to injury.
In front of 34,300 spectators, the “iron” of coach Steffen Baumgart had to cope with personnel weakening early. The former Freiburg Woo-Yeong Jong could not continue due to an ankle injury, Tim Skarke (8th) came for the South Korean.
Despite the change of change, the Berliners were good in the game in the initial phase. The hosts, in which Vincenzo Grifo played his 300th competitive game in the SC jersey, could not develop any chances.
The capitals booked the first good opportunity after a quarter of an hour, Ilić failed due to Atubolu (14th). The Berliners also presented themselves strongly afterwards, from Freiburg hardly anything came forward in the game. Only a free kick from Grifo caused danger (25th). Shortly afterwards, the 31-year-old prepared the lead by Höler exemplary.
The Berliners, who were drawn to the constant arbitration court during the week in the fight against the verdict in the “Skandal Game of Köpenick” (2-0 rating for VfL Bochum), were not shocked. Just 100 seconds after the deficit, Khedira scored his first goal of the season.
At the beginning of the second round, the guests turned the game. After a strong counterattack over Skarke, Ilić hit his head. Shortly afterwards, the Freiburgers suffered another setback. Atubolu had to get out because of a shoulder injury (58th). The keeper bounced with his central defender Philipp Lienhart at the end of the first half. Florian Müller went between the posts for Atubolu.
The replacement goalkeeper almost saw the equalization immediately, but Grifo failed at the Berlin goalkeeper Frederik Rönnow (60th). In the minutes later, Freiburg urged the second goal, Berlin remained dangerous with counterattacks.
