Coming home again in Zoetermeer after having been gone. That is the best feeling there is. We asked you: which building or which place in our city gives you that feeling of coming home? These are a few of the reactions of Zoetermeerders.

We know from our colleagues from Indebuurt The Hague that many people from The Hague have a feeling of almost coming home when they pass the Mandela bridge on the A12 at Zoetermeer. But what about our own people?

Mandela bridge

The opinion of those Hagenaars is shared by Hermien Jansen, among others. “When I see the blue roof, I know I am almost at home”. Saekle Hoitinga also shares that opinion, but she also has other landmarks: “In addition to the Mandela bridge, the water tower and the follies in the Florapark, the Balijbrug is the only real return home for me.”

Nutricia

Herman van der Vegte has been living in Zoetermeer for some time. “Together with my wife that is certainly my home. Almost at home it was always for me when we passed the letters of Nutricia on the A12 at Zoetermeer. Very unfortunate that they are gone.”

Hermien Koren writes: “If I saw Nutricia’s pipe from the highway, I knew I was almost at home.”

Windmill

Betty van Oorschot used to live in Brabant. She sometimes visited her sister with her parents in Zoetermeer. “For us, the Gouda aqueduct was a point of we are almost there! Later when I lived in Zoetermeer myself, the windmill of Siemens was also a point of now I am almost at home.” But nowadays Betty has a completely different figurehead: “When I see an ambulance of the household station at the back of the Haga Hospital, I also know that I am almost at home.”

Green and view of Rotterdam

Rob Rinkema is always happy when he comes home in Zoetermeer. “This because of the view over the greenery in the city and the view of Rotterdam in the distance. I also get happy when I walk in the atmospheric Dorpsstraat or sit there on one of the terraces.”

In addition, Rob has a beautiful view of the Randstad Rail towards the Stadshart. He worked for at least 20 years that track worked when it was still operated by NS. “I completed my carpenter training at the Technical School De Brug at Van Doornenplantsoen. In other words: I really feel at home in Zoetermeer.”
