★★★ 1/2 Someone thought “What if we do Planet of the Apes but with dinosaurs?” And here we are: mission to search for a new Earth ends up crashing on Earth 65 million years ago. Survivor and girl face off against tyrannosaurs and other critters, and have a chance to survive. The good thing about this film is that it has only those elements and squeezes them with a realism – oh, paradox – only possible with the special effects and the great work of Adam Driver, who believes everything and allows us to believe. There’s only one flaw in this cascade of effects: it’s all too serious, almost impossibly solemn at times, when a bit of humor lightens up the bullfights and usually makes sense. He’s an astronaut being chased by dinosaurs, people, let’s take the fantasy with due happiness! Except for that, a perfect demonstration that class B can live with big budgets.
