500 Ukrainian villages still without power as temperatures plummet below freezing | Abroad

“The enemy continues to attack the vital infrastructure of our country. Currently, 507 villages in eight regions of our country are cut off from the power supply,” said Deputy Interior Minister Yevguinii Yenine. “The Kharkiv region has been hardest hit, where 112 villages are isolated. In the Donetsk and Kherson region there are more than 90 villages, in the Mykolaiv region 82 villages, in the Zaporizhia region 76, in the Luhansk region 43.”

Ukrainian authorities called on citizens on Saturday to persevere even though living conditions are deteriorating. Temperatures are already dropping well below freezing in the country.

More Russian attacks on energy infrastructure are expected in the coming weeks. There are therefore fears for a very heavy winter and a new wave of refugees.
