Record player for years
Goalkeeper icon Martin Männel reached the next milestone at FC Erzgebirge Aue at the weekend. In the 1:2 home defeat against newly promoted SSV Ulm 1846, the 35-year-old captain stood between the posts for the “Veilchen” for the 500th time. Aues Männel has been a record player for years and has a lead of over 100 games over Jörg Weißflog and Co. – and he kept 150 clean sheets.
Performance data
Aue had the former U20 national player in 2008 Energie Cottbus committed. In German professional football, there is no player who has been in his club’s squad longer than Männel.
