Pasveer came over from Vitesse in 2021. The idea was then that he would become a reserve keeper, but in the last four years, Pasveer (with the exception of the 2023/24 season) was usually the first keeper.

In the meantime the counter is at 93 matches for Ajax. In 2022 he became national champion with the club. He also took a personal record at Ajax: with his 41 years he is by far the oldest player in club history. In the premier league history, Pasveer is the third oldest player.

Yet last season, Pasveer was one of the best players at Ajax. The then trainer Francesco Farioli praised him, in addition to his goalkeeper qualities, also regularly because of his leadership of the defense. Due to a back injury, the Enschedeër had to miss a large part of the conclusion. His replacement, the rented goalkeeper Matheus, was unable to convince.

After the season it was unclear for a long time whether Pasveer would stay with Ajax, because his expiring contract was not extended. In the meantime that has happened. The keeper’s new contract ends on June 30, 2026.

‘Example pro’

“With all his experience, Remko is an important link in the selection, both inside and outside the lines. He is an example of someone who really lives for the sport,” says technical director Alex Kroes. “Last season he had a very good season as the first keeper and therefore proven that he is still standing his ground. That is why we like him again this season, he has earned this extra year himself.”

Whether Pasveer will be the first keeper again this year is not entirely certain. The club has a new keeper with the 23-year-old Vitezlav Jaros. Jaros was the third keeper of Liverpool last season and is now being rented for a year.
