The festival grew over the years. From a room in the village house to the handball club and finally on the site of the ice club. The handful of volunteers is now an army of four hundred become a man. “It’s a world of difference,” says Joost. “It is now much more a logistics puzzle that has to be laid where everyone has their own tasks.”

Young guard takes over

And that also applies to Edwin who is responsible for the tents. After forty editions, he decided to take it a bit easier. “Building that is physically tough, so I’m glad the younger guard takes over,” he says laughing.

“I will continue to do small hand and tights, because I can’t really say goodbye. It is always certain and you work together on a nice party, it’s one big family.”

Well -known artists who come this year are Level 42, Fun Lovin Criminals and Merol. The men are proud that the festival has grown so much. “We shouldn’t get bigger either,” Joost acknowledges. “I think something will change in Festivalland in terms of set -up. Not only music, but also more experience, more a total package.”
