Dortmund double strike before the break

The Schanzer, who played their first game under new coach Guerino Capretti, dominated the game from the start and had their first big chance in the 18th minute when Calvin Brackelmann headed over the Dortmund goal from close range. Two minutes later, Tobias Bech also missed a good opportunity for the home side.

Dortmund also appeared from time to time in the opposing half and set an exclamation mark in the person of Justin Nijnmah when the winger’s shot just missed the post (35′). Five minutes later, BVB surprisingly took the lead: Niklas Dams headed in after a corner to make it 1-0 (40′). Shortly afterwards, in the 42nd minute, Nijnmah made it 2-0 for the Black and Yellows after a pass from Cyrill Akono from close range.

Ingolstadt close to equalizing

After the break, Dortmund’s Papadopoulos set the first exclamation mark with a shot from distance that just missed the goal (49′). On the other hand, BVB goalkeeper Marcel Lotka thwarted a big chance from Max Dittgen (51st). Just a few seconds later, however, the Dortmund keeper was powerless when Pascal Testroet scored to make it 1-2 (53′).

The home side then pushed for the equalizer and had two top-class chances through Testroet (61st) and Marcel Costly (65th), which remained unused. After that, BVB stabilized defensively and more often provided relief to the front. In the closing stages, this even led to counterattack chances from substitutes Ted Tattermusch (82′) and Rodney Elongo-Yombo, who hit the post (83′). However, BVB’s redeeming 2-1 victory remained.
