The heavily indebted second division soccer team FC Schalke 04 has scheduled February 22nd as a subscription for the support cooperative “Auf Schalke eG”.

From 11:04 a.m. sharp on Wednesday (January 22, 2025) the almost 190,000 members or companies as so-called legal entities can purchase shares in the Veltins Arena for 250 euros each, plus a one-off 75 euros entry fee (500 euros for companies), which is exclusively be used for administrative purposes, the club said.

This should increase income

The model has already been registered in the cooperative register. It should bring the club as much as 50 million euros in equity capital. The Ruhrpott Club primarily wants to use the additional income to pay off debts. The club is currently burdened with liabilities worth more than 162 million euros. The Bundesliga club FC St. Pauli has launched a similar cooperative model.

Anyone who subscribes to 04 shares can look forward to a printed certificate, a “Auf Schalke eG” pin to pin on and a mention by name on the support cooperative monument that is to be erected near the arena.
