Hamburger SV is once again falling short of expectations this season. The mood on the Elbe is becoming harsher.

Captain Sebastian Schonlau has criticized some of his teammates at Hamburger SV: “We currently have too many players who are not consistently playing at their maximum,” said the 30-year-old in an interview with Hamburg media: “We can’t always just talk about theoretical potential, that we don’t access.”

After 16 match days in the 2nd Bundesliga, the Hanseatic League have only collected 25 points and are in eighth place. However, SV Elversberg is only three points away from being the current leader. “The points tally in the first half of the season is definitely unsatisfactory. We know that,” continued Schonlau.

On Saturday (from 1 p.m. in the live ticker on t-online) the last game of the year is coming up for Hamburg. At home at the Volksparkstadion it is also a question of whether interim coach Merlin Polzin will remain head coach permanently. Sebastian Schonlau: “If we win against Fürth, we would have got eight points under him. That would be the two-point average we are aiming for.”
