Berlin only 4 points before relegation

SV Elversberg 07 sent Hertha BSC back to the capital in the 2nd Bundesliga with a hearty 0: 4 defeat. The eleven of new coach Stefan Leitl only separate four points from the relegation relegation place after the 24th matchday. The Hamburger SV lost 0-2 in Paderborn, but remains the leader for the time being. The East Westphalia passed the 1. FC Köln by the three in the table as well as the 1. FC Magdeburg, who moved to third place through a 4: 1 success against Darmstadt 98.
Leitl remains victorious in the second game as Hertha coach. Meanwhile, Elversberg can continue to dream of promotion to the Bundesliga. Muhammed Damar (11th minute), Robin Fellhauer (29th), Tom Zimmerschied (37th) and Semih Sahin by penalty (45.+3) ensured stunned faces at Hertha at halftime. Born in Berlin, Damar initiated the SVE home in front of 10,607 spectators with his goal. After the third goal, Leitl called his team together for a speech, but it didn’t get better for Hertha. On the contrary: after a foul by Linus Gechter to Elversberg’s Lukas Petkov, Sahin secured the due penalty and thus ensured the highest half -time leadership in the history of the SVE in the 2nd Bundesliga. Even after the change of sides, the Berliners could not really increase. The Saarlanders confidently managed the significant lead.
HSV series torn: In Paderborn first defeat under Polzin
The successful series of Hamburger SV under coach Merlin Polzin is torn. The disappointing Hanseates missed in Paderborn to break down in the table. The red pants had previously won six wins and four draws under Polzin. The strong East Westphalia jumped to fourth place in the table due to success and are only one counter behind the HSV and 1. FC Kaiserslautern.
Filip Bilbija took care of the lead in the 15th minute with his sixth goal of the season. The striker had also marked both goals against his ex-club in the first half of the season in Hamburg, for which he had played in 2022/23. Adriano Grimaldi (84.) met the final score. With their variable game, the hosts made life difficult for HSV. The 1: 0 by Bilbija’s header looked after an outstanding flank of Ilyas and a header template by Casper Terho was deserved. Hamburgers rarely came on opportunities.
After the break, the guests tried to increase the pressure. But they rarely succeeded. They were even lucky twice: Paderborn’s Aaron tenth (54th) only hit the right inner post. A penalty of the SCP had been withdrawn due to an offside position. But that didn’t bother the hosts. Grimaldi made the success perfect. The best chance of the HSV had Jean-Luc Dompé (77th), whose shot the slatted cross grazed.
Game against Darmstadt filmed: Magdeburg jumps in third place
The 1. FC Magdeburg slowly puts its home weakness and won the relegation rank on Sunday. The team of coach Christian Titz celebrated the second victory in front of their own fans against Darmstadt, but is still only in 15th place in the home table.
Fraser Hornby (29th) gave the cleverly playing guests with the first great opportunity. Magdeburg’s Mohammed El Hankouri did not consistently defend. FCM defense chief Marcus Mathisen also saw his tenth yellow card and is therefore missing in the next game in Fürth. Hornby (52.) then failed from a short distance to FCM goalkeeper Dominik Reimann and the hosts struck back. After a counterattack Xavier equalized Amaechi (56th), Magdeburg was superior from now on – and hardly anything went with the Hesse. Livan Burcu (73.), Abu-Bekir Ömer El-Zein (78th), made the preliminary decision before striker Martijn Kaars (81st) was also allowed to make.
