With his first goal in the Eintracht jersey, Sebastian Polter saved the BTSV from a sensitive bankruptcy. After the game, the striker was noticeably touched.

September 23, 2023, Sebastian Polter noted. Then the striker of Eintracht Braunschweig – at the time still in the jersey of FC Schalke 04 – shot his last competitive goal. Until Saturday. Then the attacker’s goal flaut ended after more than one and a half years.

With his goal against SSV Ulm, Polter of Eintracht saved the 1-1 and thus a point in the basement duel of the 2nd Bundesliga. The 33-year-old was then overwhelmed by his emotions. In an interview with the Pay TV station “Sky”, Polter broke out about his goal in tears.

“At the end of the day I am glad that I finally scored a goal again. It was a long time ago,” said the striker with shaky and repeatedly voice. The long dry spell had a hard time. “Anyone who knows me knows that the hurt,” said Polter.

His premier gate for Eintracht in the 19th competitive game in the BTSV jersey was extremely important for the Braunschweig. Because through a bankruptcy against Ulm, the opponent from Baden-Württemberg would have passed the BTSV table and would have shot the Lower Saxony on a direct relegation zone.

But it turned out differently. Thanks to Polt, who rose at the highest after a corner kick in the 85th minute and headed to compensate. Only two minutes earlier he had been substituted for central defenders Kevin Ehlers. “We strikers live from the moments: to get a goal with a contact. I live for it, I am convinced of it,” added Polter with tears.

The Eintracht turned a bankruptcy thanks to the late Jokertor and is now still on relegation place 16. In addition, the BTSV will go to the explosive Lower Saxony endsy against Hannover 96 next Sunday (1.30 p.m.) with another point in the luggage. Polter wants to help the team again. The knot may have burst in time for the striker.
