Hamburger SV has left important points in the fight for Bundesliga return. Despite numerous top chances, it was only a 0-0 on Friday evening (28.03.2025) against the strongly defending SV Elversberg.
The HSV immediately put pressure on the first round, developed advantages in the duels, in the possession of the ball and also had some very dangerous degrees. For the first time, right -back William Mikelbrencis correctly brought the Elversberger keeper Nicolas Kristof in need in the 13th minute, but his crashed cross clapped on the crossbar.
As a result, Davie Selke had several good opportunities, but the clearest missed Ludovit Reis in the 33rd minute: his header after the flank of the extreme active Jean-Luc Dompé The lead should have meant from a short distance, but rice did not press the ball properly and placed it too unfocused – just over the crossbar.

Elversberg also remained dangerous, countered excellently and kept putting needles. But the next clear opportunity had the lead again: In the 78th minute, substitute Marco Richter had a lot of time and lots of space after a poorly clarified ball of the Elversberger to adjust the ball on the penalty area – but he only hit the latte.
In the end, the HSV also had the previously long injured Robert Glatzel on the square in addition to Joker Ransford Königsdörffer – but the Elversberger Bollwerk held the continuous pressure with a lot of skill and a little luck.
Elversberg’s trainer Forst Steffen said to the Sportschau: “Until the 70th minute we had the feeling that we might be able to win the game.” And his captain Robin Fellhauer was happy: “This is definitely a point gain when you see the last ten minutes, the HSV had an extreme print phase. But we have remained stable, have defended everything away and, I think, deserve a point.” The HSV coach, Merlin Polzin, said: “It was a 0-0 of the better variety. With the aluminum hits and the chances that were clarified shortly before the line, we were very close. Unfortunately, it didn’t work out with the goal in the end.”
